Privacy Policy
Peacefulday ("we") respects the privacy of people who use the Milky Way Finder app ("the app"). This policy explains what is collected and why.
1. Your places stay on your device
Your current location, the places you save, and your settings are stored only on your device. There is no account and we never receive them. All sky calculations (Sun, Moon, Milky Way) run on your phone.
2. Information collected by services we use
| Information | When | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| App usage events (which features are used), device model, OS version, app version, an app-instance identifier | While you use the app | Improving the app (Google Firebase Analytics). What you type or create is never included. |
| Crash reports (stack traces, device model, OS version) | When the app crashes | Fixing bugs (Google Firebase Crashlytics) |
| Advertising ID, device information, IP address, ad interactions | When ads are shown (never for Pro users) | Serving and measuring ads (Google AdMob) |
| Approximate location — coordinates rounded to two decimal places (about 1 km) | When the app shows the cloud forecast for a place | Getting the cloud forecast from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway). Nothing else is sent with it, and it is not stored by us. |
| Purchase status | When you buy Pro | Payments are handled by Google Play or the App Store; the app learns only whether Pro is active, never your payment details |
3. Device permissions
- Location (only while the app is in use; never in the background): to work out where the Sun, Moon and Milky Way are in your sky and to get the cloud forecast. You can also pick a place on the map instead.
- Camera: the live view behind the AR sky overlay. Nothing is recorded, saved or uploaded.
- Notifications (Pro, only if you turn on good-night alerts): to tell you when a clear, moonless night is coming. The check runs on your phone a couple of times a day.
- Internet: cloud forecast, map, ads, analytics and purchases.
4. Third-party services
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics). Data may be processed on servers in the United States. Firebase privacy
- Google AdMob: ads. Users in the EEA, UK and similar regions are asked for consent first; on iOS you are asked whether to allow tracking. How Google uses data
- MET Norway (Locationforecast): cloud forecast, sent rounded coordinates only. Terms
- Google Maps: the map tab. Map tiles are loaded from Google when you open it. Google privacy
- Google Play Billing / Apple App Store: purchases.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Retention and deletion
Everything the app stores (saved places, settings, a short cache of the cloud forecast) is on your device; uninstalling the app deletes it. Firebase keeps analytics data for up to 14 months. In regions where ad consent is required you can change your choice in the app under Settings → Ad privacy choices.
6. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of information about you at any time by contacting us below.
7. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with its effective date.
